Product Care Guide - Homewares

Our homewares items encompass a wide range of materials and types. Here are our general care instructions to keep your selection looking their best. Always check for specific care instructions or recommendations provided by the manufacturer for each décor item. Regular cleaning and proper care can help maintain the beauty and integrity of your home décor pieces for years to come.

Ceramic and Porcelain Décor:

Dust regularly with a soft cloth or a feather duster to remove surface dirt.

Clean with a mild soap and water solution using a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch the surface.

Handle delicate pieces with care to prevent chips or breakage.

Glass Décor:

Clean glass décor items such as vases, ornaments, or sculptures with a glass cleaner or a mild soap solution and a soft cloth.

Handle glass items carefully to avoid breakage. Use padding or protective materials during storage.

Metal Décor (excluding plated finishes):

Dust metal décor regularly with a soft cloth to prevent build-up.

Use a mild soap and water solution to clean metal items. Dry thoroughly to prevent rust or tarnishing.

Apply a metal polish if necessary to restore shine, following the product instructions.

Nickel & Metal Plated Décor:

Dust gently with a dry microfibre cloth or duster.

Do not expose to metal polishes, moisture or cleaning products as it may wear the finish.

Wooden Décor:

Dust wooden décor items with a soft, dry cloth or a slightly damp cloth to remove dirt and dust.

Apply wood polish or wax occasionally to nourish and protect the wood. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

Avoid exposing wooden décor to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures to prevent warping or fading.

Textile & Fabric Décor (Cushions & Throws):

Avoid placing fabric items outdoors, or indoors near direct sunlight. Our cushions and throws are suited to indoor use only. Sunlight will cause fabrics to fade.

Follow the care instructions provided by the manufacturer for washing or dry cleaning to avoid causing damage.

Do not wash with hot water as it may shrink your fabric cover.

Vacuum lightly or shake out pillows and throws regularly to remove dust and maintain freshness.

Spot clean stains promptly with a mild detergent and water, following the fabric care guidelines. Do not rub the fabric as it may cause damage.

Do not place sharp objects on or near fabrics. This could damage the material and cause pulls or tears.

Artwork and Frames:

Dust framed artwork or photo frames with a soft, dry cloth or a feather duster. If your frame is metal plated please refer to the instructions for plated finishes above.

Clean glass with a soft cloth and glass cleaner or a mild soap solution. Always dry thoroughly and take care not to expose your artwork to moisture.

Use caution when cleaning delicate artworks. For valuable or delicate pieces, seek professional cleaning or preservation services.

Wax Candles:

Trim candle wicks before each use to prevent soot and uneven burning.

Remove wax drippings carefully from holders. For stubborn wax, place the holder in the freezer to harden the wax, then gently remove it taking care not to damage the vessel or holder.

For Nickel or plated finish candle holders, dust gently with a dry microfibre cloth. Do not expose to moisture or cleaning products as it will wear the finish (see nickel plating guide above).

Mirrors:

Clean mirrors with a glass cleaner or a vinegar and water solution using a lint-free cloth.

Avoid using abrasive cleaners or rough materials that can scratch the mirror surface.

Avoid spraying cleaning solutions directly on your mirrored surface (including mirrored trays) as moisture may enter the edges of the mirror and cause wear.

Artificial Plants, Faux Florals & Orchids:

Regularly dust artificial or faux plants with a soft cloth or a feather duster to remove accumulated dust and dirt. This helps maintain their appearance and keeps them looking fresh.

For light cleaning, use a mild soap solution and a soft cloth to gently wipe the leaves and stems. Ensure the cloth is only slightly damp to avoid water pooling on the leaves.

For stubborn dirt or stains, use a soft-bristled brush (like a makeup brush or a small paintbrush) to gently remove debris without damaging the foliage.

Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners as these can damage or discolour the material.

Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources such as excessive heat can cause the plastic to warp or materials and colours to fade. Avoid placing artificial arrangements with clear resins near heat or direct sunlight as this will cause the resin to yellow over time.

Handle gently when cleaning to avoid breakage or bending of delicate parts. Fragile parts like delicate leaves or stems might need extra care during cleaning or rearranging.
